The WTYC/WTCC Releases First CD
The West Tennessee Youth Chorus, combined with the West Tennessee Children's Chorus, released their first recording in Compact Disk Format. The recording includes classical choral repertoire, spirituals, and local icon James Hyter, accompanied by the combined choruses in a rendition of "Ol' Man River", made famous locally by Mr. Hyter and his 20 years of performing with the Memphis Symphony, especially noted as the signature piece at the Memphis Sunset Symphony held on the Mississippi River.
During February of 2002, the combined choruses, under the direction of Martha Wright, organized an 80th birthday commemorative concert to honor Mr. Hyter. The choruses were honored to accompany Mr. Hyter during his rendition of favorite songs.
